Announcement of Candidacy of Greg Duke --

Press Release

Date: March 23, 2016
Issues: Elections

With great concern about the direction America is headed, and after prayerful consideration, Greg Duke announces his intent to run for the US House of Representatives to serve the Second Congressional District of Georgia.

He believes someone other than a politician is needed to do the right thing for the country and its citizens. Duke said that he has considered running for Congress for the past six years, but a series of sermons during October at his church made him recognize that he needed to step up and do his part to steer America's ship back on course to the principles that were the foundation of this great country. After getting down on his knees and talking to God, he realized that now was the time to announce his candidacy and take his message to the people. While Americans are concerned about the fiscal cliff, Greg fears the financial avalanche that our children and grandchildren are under if national leaders do not end their runaway spending. From now until November 2016, he plans to visit with residents of the Second Congressional District to listen to concerns and gain their support.Greg served on the Lee County Board of Education from 2000 -2012. Since recruiting a strong administrative team for the school system, community support and teacher morale have improved and Lee County schools are among the best in the state of Georgia.Greg and his wife, Jan, are the parents of five children, Meghan, Dylan, Adair, Colby and Landon. He is a member of First Baptist Albany where he is director of the Adult 8 Sunday School Department, sings in the choir, and serves on the Camp Hawkins ministry team. As a licensed optician, Greg has worked throughout the district in vision centers in Americus, Columbus and Macon. He currently manages the Sears Optical located in the Albany Mall.
